Yotel has made its debut in Australia with a 244-room hotel in Melbourne's Southbank, set to open 2022.
The development is a partnership with Malaysian hotel owner and developer Cornerstone Partners Group.
Yotel chief executive Hubert Viriot said the price point will be around $140 to $180 a night, a 20% premium on budget hotels, and a 20% discount on upscale ones.
He also said Yotel was serious about Australia and was looking for development sites in Sydney and Brisbane.
The British-based company shareholders include the Talal Jassim Al-Bahar Group, Starwood Capital Group and United Investment Portugal. ,
